Cockburn's

Cockburn’s was founded by the Scot Robert Cockburn in 1815. After he fought first as a soldier during the Napoleonic wars, he returned to Portugal. Cockburn’s became an important brand in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 2010, Cockburn’s was sold to the Symington Family Estates, a family business that owns more than 1,006 acres (2,400 acres) of the vineyards in the Douro Valley. With this, Cockburn’s became a family business.
