If you want to open a bottle with old Vintage port, you run the risk of cork crumbles in the port if you open the bottle with a cork srew. This is because the cork becomes brittle over time. 1. Heat the tongs until they are piping hot.
2. Put this around the neck of the bottle (just under the cork) for about 20 to 30 seconds.
3. Take a soaked cold cloth and place it around the neck of the bottle.
4. The glass will burst without splintering due to the temperature difference.
